Christine Mayhew
Christine Mayhew came from Blackburn, in Lancashire England and moved to Galway in 1987 with her two children. She joined Galway Christian Fellowship in 1991 and has been a worship leader there since 1996. She now lives with her husband Simon in Oughterard, a small fishing village in the West of Ireland just outside of Galway city. They have four grown up children, Lucy, Louisa, Micheal, Aaron, one teenager Emma and a dog called Basil.
Chris began songwriting as soon as she became a Christian and was encouraged by her pastor to share these songs at various meetings. They were simple songs with just a guitar and voice but they never failed to touch hearts. She was never trained in music and was self taught on the guitar to a basic level. Joining the worship team in GCF helped her learn more about the guitar and the dynamics of playing with other people. She soon developed a gift for worship leading and this became her passion, to lead people into the presence of God.
As she spent more and more time in private worship and prayer, the Lord gave her more and more songs. Some are testimonies of the things God has done in her life, some are just pure worship and adoration, others express the deep joy of knowing the love of God and the presence of God in her life, some are more like prayers and some are more prophetic. It was her dream for many years to record her songs so it was a great joy for her to finally produce this first album, Perfect Lamb, Perfect Sacrifice. She still has many more songs she would like to record and cannot wait to make to start on a second album.
She would like to thank everyone in GCF who have helped and encouraged her, especially Graeme and Fran Wylie who gave her such a great upbringing in the Lord, and indeed everyone else who have stood by her and believed in her dream. She would like to thank everyone for all their kind comments and encouraging feedback on the album. God spoke to her a long time ago and told her that these songs He was giving her in private were not for her alone but they were to be a blessing to many people. So she really hopes that you are blessed and encouraged as you listen to the CD.
